Autism Awareness

Today is National Autism Day (April is National Autism Month) and recently released statistics indicate 1 child in 88 in the US has autism. That number is alarming and teachers are seeing more and more students displaying the wide spectrum of autism characteristics. Our tip for this month is to encourage you to attend workshops on autism and become as  informed as possible on the topic.

Teachers can be key in helping to identify students and also younger siblings of students as research indicates the earlier autism is identified, the more successful interventions can be.

There are growing numbers of autism associations throughout Canada and the US who have speakers available. Contact one near you today and find out how you can support your students with autism.
